Would you like to sail in a Tall ship? Here are some options...

Two of the tall ships involved in Iacobus Maris Route 2021 have available berths on board this spring and summer, so you can live the experience of being part of the crew as a trainee. The are two options:

  1. The Pelican of London: This ship was built in France in 1948, with 45 meters length will sail from/to Plymouth. Called “Ocean Science” voyages, will have marine scientist from Plymouth University sailing onboard, with research equipment to do water samples, plankton netting, micro plastic research and other marine studies. They would have up to 14 berths available on 10 day voyages starting on:

    • 28th of April

    • 11th of May

    • 9th of September

    • 22nd of September

    The duration is 10 days and the costs (without transport to/from Plymouth), £1.000. English will be the official language on board.

  2. Atyla Ship: is a uniquely beautiful ship, built by hand in Spain between 1980 and 1984, ATYLA is one of the very few handmade wooden-hulled tall ships in the world that still operates. You will have the opportunity to sail between Brest and La Coruña.

    Embarking in Brest on July 15th, during the festival “Fetes Maritimes” and participating in the impressive “Grand Parade”, before setting sails to La Coruña arriving on July 24th to participate in Tall Ship Races 2020. The disembarkation will be on July, 26th.

    The duration is 11 days and the costs (without transport to Brest), 990€ as a trainee or 1.495€ as a passenger. English will be the official language on board.

  3. Eendratch: 55 meters length, built in 1989. From Cadiz to A Coruña, July 11th to 26th.

    Sail for Unity – Sustainable Sailing journey. Only for the following countries: Spain, Hungary, Norway, Netherlands and Italy. Step on board the Eendracht for an unforgettable adventure. Race other Ships in the famous Tall Ships Races and participante in marine research on the way. Learn to sail the ship, from setting sails to steering; make international friends;gather water samples from the ocean and learn about the danger of microplastics from the expert on board.

    The youngster price (age 15-25) is EUR 995,- per trainee, instead of the normal price of EUR 1,275.

    Possible reimbursement of your travel costs to- and from the ports, pending a financial support from the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. Reimbursement up to a certain amount (based on the country of origin and tickets costs, according to the rules of the Erasmus+ Program). The reimbursement will take place several months after the journey.

  4. Morgenster: was launched in 1919, 38 meters length. 20 July - 03 August 2020, The Hague - London - Amsterdam.

    Sailing beyond Sustainable Horizons. Erasmus+ International Exchange for young people aged 15-25 from: The Netherlands, Spain, France, UK and Sweden. Join the international group of trainees who want to try sailing on a Tall Ship and help the environment while learning about each other’s cultures. Stee the ship, navigate, fish for microplastic in the North Sea, visit The Hague, London and Amsterdam.

    Co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. The youngster price (age 15-25) is EUR 995,- per trainee, instead of the normal price of EUR 1,620.
